In 1998 Randee Eddins (founder of African American Writers Alliance) and son Rajnii Eddins founded The Poetry Experience an all-ages writing and sharing circle at Douglass Truth Library in Seattle, Washington ~26 years later this community group has touched the lives of generations of artists, activists and organizers.

The Poetry Experience ~ May Those From Under Our Feet tells the story of this valuable organization and the sacred ways creativity, youth empowerment and community building has helped and continues to help positively shape generations and foster healthy safe spaces for creativity and imagination that are life-giving and life-saving.

Rajnii Eddins utilizes spoken word as a tool for engagement in conversations about race, culture, equity and the richness to be found in each of our stories. In this presentation at Landmark College, Eddins shares his poetry and the historical context in which it was created. He discusses how our stories can be used to confront racism and other injustices, affirm diversity and equity, and initiate community dialogue.

Spoken Word Poet Rajnii Eddins joined Lost Nation Theater on Wednesday April 19th, 2023 for A Night of Poetry & Community. Rajnii was here with us to amplify and shine more light on April as Poetry Month - and the 'message' of Lost Nation Theater's production of Antoinette Nwandu's PASS OVER.

 

Rajnii and The Richard Kemp Center hold space in Burlington to uplift Black youth, share poetry, and raise funds for the first annual student trip to DC's National Museum of African American History and Culture. Includes Black Artist Showcase performances.
